Disinfection of the cover

Purpose of the measure:

Destruction of pathogenic microorganisms and pests (nematodes and insects).

Time of implementation:

Before placing the cover on the incubation compost.

Method of implementation:

WITH WATER STEAM.

It is carried out 4 to 5 days before using the cover (covering).

With water steam from the steam boiler, the prepared cover is heated to 70 - 750C for a duration of 2 to 3 hours. Smaller amounts of cover can be disinfected with water steam in an easy way without expensive tools. Here is a detailed description of the process: To begin with, you need to have a metal container. A perforated metal platform is placed at a distance of 20-25 cm from the bottom. A tap for draining water is built into this part of the vessel, and it is desirable to also install a pipe for pouring water. The device thus prepared is placed over the fire. About 10 liters of water are placed in the vessel, then it is filled to the top with a prepared cover and covered with a thick cloth. When, under the influence of strong fire, the steam penetrates the material, the fire is maintained for another 10 to 15 minutes. After that, the remaining, unevaporated water is drained from the vessel through the tap. The material is placed in a cart (which has been previously disinfected) and transported to a disinfected room, where it is stored until its use.

Fumigant

To perform the disinfection of the substrate of the cover using preparations that act with water vapor, it is necessary to make a frame (concrete, wall, made of boards, etc.), which we will wrap with PVC foil before starting work in order to make it as tight as possible.

FORMALIN

The temperature of the ground should not be lower than 180C, and the treatment is done 4 to 5 days before using the cover. There are two ways to do it:

1. A layer of cover with a thickness of 50 cm is formed in the frame, holes are then made in the cover to the floor, with a distance in a row, and the distance row to row is 25 cm. A solution of formalin and water in a ratio of 1:2 is equally placed in the holes, 5 liters of solution are sufficient for 1 m3, after which the figure is covered with nylon and left for two days for the formalin vapors to act. After two days, it is stirred with a shovel, in order to prevent a strong odor and the cover can be used.

2. The cover can be sprayed, during the mixing process, with a 2% solution of formalin (30 to 40 liters of solution for 1 m3 of the cover). After which the cover is covered with nylon. After two days, it is stirred with a shovel and the cover is ready for use. Contact disinfectants.

Peral S

It can be treated regardless of the temperature of the cover. It is done by spraying the cover during the mixing process with a 2% solution of Peral S (50 liters of solution for 1 m3 of the cover).
